~ Move As Fast As I Can ~

It was my first night class in Ramadhan month. It was such a disaster to get ready to go to the class. Right after the azan, I only had a few dates and quickly left to the mosque to pray. Thanked god I had remembered that there was Bel 311 class. Without hesitations, I ran as fast as lightning to my room to dressed up and went to the class. Unfortunately, I was the last one to arrive and once again Miss Zu understood about my situation. Thanks a lot Miss Zu. You had been very patient and accept me as who I was. Without wasting any time, she proceed with the lesson which was CONCLUSION.

~ The First Class In Ramadhan ~

RAMADHAN. A nightmare for almost all lecturers. The month that they were busy waiting for the late comers to arrive to their class. Not only that they came late to the class, they were also weak and dull when the lecturer was teaching. If in the previous class I was coming a little late to the class, I was super late during the Ramadhan. As soon as I arrived at the front of the class's door, I was imagining how horrifying Miss Zu would be when I entered the class. But unfortunately, she was being very understanding. I was very sorry and relieved at the same time. So, the whole class were in the class and the class started. The things that we have been taught was about INTRODUCTION.

~ Just Relax ~

When I stepped into the class, I saw only a few girls and no boys in the class. Even Miss Zu was not in the class yet. Actually, it was the first time I had been coming early to the Bel 311 class. Everybody said that it was a miracle to see me coming early to class. Yesterday, I had been sleeping after dinner and woke up at six o'clock in the morning. How could I be more early and fresh. But unfortunately, it was such a waste to come early to class for these day because Miss Zu was still busy checking the students' outline. We did nothing for these day.

Tuesday 17 July 2012

~ Good Job Abey And Modeng ~

OH MY GOD! What a tiring day to start a new day. Last night, me and Muaz were struggling to finish the outline that Miss Zu wanted. We had been opening the websites over and over again because we were using UiTM's internet wifi. For your information, UiTM's internet wifi cannot be connected for a long time. For almost every thirty minutes we have to connect to the internet over and over again. The most unfortunate thing was Muaz and I had to stop surfing the internet by twelve o'clock because it was the limit for students to surf the internet. Thank god that both of us had remembered about those problems. So, we had done collecting the informations before twelve o'clock. It took us four hours to complete our outline. By five o'clock in the morning, the outline was finished and we were both satisfied with our outline. Let's talk a little about OUTLINE.

OUTLINE
- a general plan of the material that is to be presented in
  a speech or a paper
- should begin with thesis statement
- each outline must have three to four main ideas, with
supporting points and specific details to support each
  main idea

As soon as the class started, Miss Zu asked the first pair to present their outline. I looked around and saw every pair were busy with their outline except for me and Muaz. We were both very confident with our work. Muaz decided to be the second pair to present the outline. Both of us were relieved that Miss Zu had been praising us for the great outline. It was like "THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE".

~ The End Of The Informal Holidays ~

The first three word that I said to myself as soon as I woke up was "OH MY GOD". Wasn't it a lovely day to sleep but unfortunately I must attend to the Bel 311 class. I was feeling very lazy to go to the class after a week of no Bel 311 classes. I felt like I was in the heaven when Miss Zu announced that there were no classes for last week because of a few things. Although Miss Zu had been saying a few more words, but I only heard the greatest two words which is "NO CLASSES". Whether I like it or not, the class was going to start in thirty minutes. As usual, I would be coming to the class at exactly eight o'clock or more. The lesson for today's class was THESIS STATEMENT.

THESIS STATEMENT
- used to describe what you are saying about your topic
- it gives insight on the development of the topic
- usually written as the last sentence in the introductory
  paragraph
- different types of essay have different format for writing
  the thesis statement
- criteria of good thesis statement :
~ should be in statement [ not question ]
  ~ specific and focussed
  ~ avoids vague words
~ should be in complete sentence

~ Back To The Past ~

When the class started, I felt something different with Miss Zu. She was in a very good mood and I knew that today class was going to be interesting.  She was very pleased when she found out that everybody had done the online quiz. Yesterday's midnight, I came to Hanifah's room to borrow his broadband to do the online quiz. When I entered his room, he had been lying on the bed. When I asked him about the quiz, he was totally forgotten about the quiz. So, both of us did it and we pass it with flying colours. When Miss Zu opened the student's result for the quiz, it showed that everybody got ten over ten. It is proven that everybody in class JBM1123D are very smart. Hahahahahaha. Without wasting any time, she was going to teached us about something that we had learned in first semester which was CONTEXTUAL CLUES.

CONTEXTUAL CLUES
- THINGS THAT CAN HELP YOU TO GUESS THE MEANING OF WORDS
- YOU WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE LOGICAL GUESSES ABOUT THE MEANING
  OF THE DIFFICULT WORDS
- CLUES TO GUESS THE MEANINGS OF WORDS :
  ~ RESTATEMENT
[SENTENCE IS ELABORATED TO UNDERSTAND INFORMATION]
  ~ DEFINITION
[SOME SENTENCES GIVE THE ACTUAL DEFINITION OF AWORD]
  ~ ANTONYMS AND CONTRASTS
[THE OPPOSITE MEANING CAN BE GIVEN TO HELP UNDERSTANDING]
  ~ EXAMPLES AND CONTRAST
[EXAMPLES CAN BE GIVEN TO EXPLAIN A DIFFICULT WORD]

The watch showed that it was thirty minutes before the class ended. Miss Zu wanted us to do something fun. The students were grouped into four teams. Each teams must answer the questions in the paper given. But unfornately, my team were in second place with difference of two points.

Answer :
1. Real
2. Worried
3. Appear
4. High
Answer :
5. Middleperson
6. Secret
7. Belief
8. Think
9. Loyal
10. Talent

~ The Rise Of The Boys ~

I had been coming early to the class. Although my watch was showing it had been exactly 8 o'clock in the evening, but neither Miss Zu nor the other boys were there in the class. I kept wondering, "where are the others and am I in the right class?" Just me and a few of the girls. But after a few minutes, Hanifah, Amir and Jasman started to show up while Afiq and Muaz entered the class after the arrival of Miss Zu.

So, the class started. The lesson that we learned were the same things that we learned in Bel 120 and Bel 260 which is FACT VS OPINION.

FACT VS OPINION

FACTS
- CAN BE PROVEN TRUE
- EXAMPLE:
  a)DATES/YEARS
  b)STATISTICS/FIGURES/QUANTITY
  c)DEFINITION
  d)GEOGRAPHICAL

OPINIONS
- WHAT SOMEONE BELIEVES (CANNOT BE PROVEN TRUE OR FALSE)
- EXAMPLE:
  a)ADJECTIVES
  b)COMPARISON
  c)POSSIBILITY/ADVISABILITY
  d)BELIEVES/SUGGESTIONS/FEELINGS

As always, we were given a task. 5 groups of 6 people each were build. Every groups were given one item to be promoted to the whole class like a salesman promote their product. Every groups must list down 10 sentences while the other groups must guess how much sentences were facts and opinions.

My group's 10 sentences :
- This product is a toner which is very well known to the public. (F)
- The size capacity of this bottle is 100ml and it is convenience to bring it anywhere. (F)
- This thing can make your skin fairer, fresh and smooth. (O)
- From the statistic, this is the best product in Malaysia. (F)
- This product is really easy to use. (F)
- It is a halal product as it has a certificate from JAKIM. (F)
- This thing is made in Malaysia. (F)
- All consumer are guarantee to be satisfy with this product. (O)
- This product is the cheapest among the other products. (O)
- Based on the research, this is the best product for the damaged skin. (F)
*7 facts and 3 opinions*

It took more than 2 times for the other groups to guess our facts and opinions. By the end of the class, the other groups were asked to stand up to give my group a round of applause because we had guess all of the other groups' facts and opinion accurately.

~ Monday's Night Class ~

I were very mad to Mr. Class Rep. I were on my way to class when someone else texted me that the class was canceled. I were feeling very frustrated and very happy at the same time. I were happy because there was no eight o'clock class and I were frustrated because I would have more time on my bed if he texted me earlier. But unfortunately, the class had been replaced in the evening on the same day. When my friends and I came to the class, Miss Zu was already there waiting for us. She told us that she had some family problems so she had to cancel the morning class. Truthfully, I did not even care what she wanted to do. As long as I know, Miss Zu is my teacher and she may do anything she wants while the students must fully support her. The class started with recap of paraphrase and then, she teached us about SUMMARISING.

SUMMARISING
- DEFINED AS THE REPRODUCTION OF A PASSAGE USING FEWER WORDS
- RETELL A STORY IN YOUR OWN WORDS
- SIMILARITY AND DIFFERENCE IN SUMMARISING AND PARAPHRASE:
- STEPS IN SUMMARISING (MIDAS) :
  ~ M [IDENTIFY MAIN IDEA]
  ~ I [IDENTIFY SUPPORTING DETAILS]
  ~ D [DISREGARD UNIMPORTANT INFORMATION]
  ~ A [ANALYZE REDUNDANT INFFORMATION]
  ~ S [SIMPLIFY IMPORTANT INFORMATION]

We also play some game in the class. There were four rows of students in class. So, the students were grouped according to their rows. Then, she would whispered something to the first student and then the student had to pass it to people next to them and so on until the last person.

Things That I heard :
As a brother, the managements that we have to master are financial management, time management and self management
Original :
As a student, the managements that we have to master are financial management, time management and self management

It was not my fault that it was wrong. There must be someone who made a mistake but put the blame on me. I think the girls were accidentally heard the wrong one and then unanimously told everyone that I were the one who get it wrong. Hehehehehe

MLA

- MLA HANDBOOK is necessity for anyone who writing academic papers

~ The Most Embarrassed Day In Class ~

Yesterday, Miss Zu asked us to pick our own topic and the main ideas for the term paper and then we were going to explain them to the whole class. I had been paired with Muaz for the term paper. Both of us will work hard to get the term paper done and make it excellent. So, the lesson for today was NARROWING A TOPIC.

NARROWING A TOPIC
- PROCESS OF NARROWING A TOPIC :
  ~ CHOOSE A GENERAL/BROAD TOPIC
~ NARROW THE SCOPE OF THE GENERAL TOPIC
~ DETERMINE THE FOCUS OF YOUR CHOSEN TOPIC

Muaz and I had done what Miss Zu asked us to do. We had picked a topic and also had searching for the main ideas.

When Muaz's name was called, it was our turn to present. I knew that Miss Zu was in a bad mood when she called Muaz's name. But, both of us went in front of the class with proud as we had successfully did the works that Miss Zu gave us. Unfortunately, we were scolded by her as soon as we showed the focussed topic. I had forgotten that she had been telling us to take a topic for the local issues. Which means all of our effort was such a waste. But, Miss Zu asked us to think about the new main ideas. But, there was nothing that me and Muaz could thinking about. So, I just showed her the main ideas that I searched. OMG! The nightmare was about to begin and it was like a disasters. The thing that I did not like was the others were also been scolded just because of me. I'M SORRY CLASS!

~ Stop Copying Other People's Work ~

I were very exhausted. I have been hanging out with my friends at Melaka the night before the class. We went there on sunday morning and came back to UiTM just about eleven o'clock in the evening. Without hesitation, I went to sleep as soon as I came through the door of my room. When I woke up on the next morning, I felt like I just wanted to sleep for the whole day. But for the sake of my future, my CGPA and my beloved Miss Zu, I went to the class. I were lucky for coming to the class because it may be usefull for my term paper. The subjects are PLAGIARISM AND PARAPHRASING.

PLAGIARISM
- DEFINE AS TAKING IN PART OR IN SOMEONE ELSE'S WORDS,
WRITINGS, RESEARCH, IDEAS, ARTWORKS, MUSICS OR OTHER
CREATIVE EFFORTS AND PASSING IT OFF AS ONE'S WITHOUT
GIVING DUE CREDIT TO THE ORIGINATOR

  ~ PARAPHRASE
[WRITE IN YOUR OWN WORDS AS WHAT YOU UNDERSTAND]
  ~ CITE SOURCES
[PROVIDE LINKS OF WEBSITES AND LIST ALL THE SOURCES]
  ~ QUOTATION MARKS
[WRITE EXACT WORDS AND PUT THEM IN '.....']

PARAPHRASE
- DEFINE AS EXPRESSING SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS USING YOUR OWN
  WORDS
- GUIDELINES FOR PARAPHRASING :
~ RETAIN THE ORIGINAL MEANING OF THE TEXT
~ CHANGE THE GRAMMAR AND SENTENCES STRUCTURE
  ~ USE SYNONYMS WHERE APPROPRIATE
  ~ CITE THE ORIGINAL SOURCE
- YOU NEED TO MENTION THE AUTHOR'S NAME SO THAT THE READERS
KNOW THAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY DISCUSSING SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS

Actually, today is the first time I entered the computer lab although this is my third semester in UiTM Segamat. I was very excited but at least I behaved like I did not even care about it. After we were all had taken our place, Miss Zu asked us to choose our computer because we were all going to sit there until the end of the semester. We have to take care our own computer in the future.

~ First Day Of Class ~

On the first day of class, we were all given a task. We were told to work in pairs. So I decided to paired up with Zul. Each of the pairs must introduced their own pair to the whole class. The most interesting about this task is all of the students must give four facts and one of them are false facts about their pair. Then, the whole class will have to guess which one is the false fact.

Me and Zul have the advantages because we know about each other very well. It is because we were in the same class since last semester. All we have to do is create a false fact about each other.

4 FACTS ABOUT ZUL :
   - always think that he is a handsome guy
   - his hobby is swimming
   - have a girlfriend
   - a hardworking person (FALSE)

4 FACTS ABOUT ME :
   - wants to be a soldier before entering UiTM Segamat
   - play rugby since highschool
   - likes to hanging around with friends
   - love cats (FALSE)

But unfortunately, it takes only one try for the whole class to guessed our false facts. At least I were enjoying the class very much. I am looking foward to be teached by Miss Zu.
